Our Community Commitment
OCB Cares
When people think about selling a house, they usually think about the paperwork, the closing, and getting moved out.
What many people do not think about is everything that gets left behind.
Over the years, we have purchased hundreds of homes throughout Ohio. Some were inherited properties filled with a lifetime of memories. Others involved downsizing, foreclosure situations, landlord cleanouts, hoarding situations, or families simply trying to move on to the next chapter of life.
One thing we noticed early on was how much perfectly usable furniture, clothing, tools, household items, appliances, and building materials were ending up in dumpsters.
That never sat right with us.
That is why we created OCB Cares.
Whenever possible, our team works to donate, upcycle, recycle, or repurpose items left behind in properties we purchase. Furniture may go to local families in need. Household goods may be donated to charitable organizations. Building materials are often salvaged and reused. Scrap metal is recycled whenever possible.
Every item is evaluated with one simple question:
Can this help someone?
But OCB Cares is about more than donations.
It is about recognizing that many of the things left behind are tied to real memories and important moments in people’s lives.
One property we purchased in Dayton is a perfect example.
The seller had moved away and did not want most of the furniture or household items left in the home. As we worked through the cleanout process, she asked if we could look in the attic for one specific item, her wedding dress.
Our team found it, carefully packed it, and mailed it to her.
She had been married in that dress 32 years earlier.
The furniture was donated. The household items that could help others were donated or repurposed. But the wedding dress was something different. It was a memory she wanted to keep forever.
That moment reminded us why OCB Cares matters.
We have walked through homes where family photos were still hanging on the walls, garages were filled with tools collected over decades, and furniture had been passed down through multiple generations.
We understand that many of these items are more than just belongings. They represent memories, hard work, and important chapters of someone’s life.
While we cannot save everything, we never treat a property like “just another house.” We do our best to make sure usable items can continue helping others whenever possible, while also helping sellers preserve the memories that matter most.
Through OCB Cares, we have helped divert countless furniture pieces, appliances, household goods, tools, and building materials away from local landfills and into the hands of charities, community organizations, and families throughout Ohio.
At Ohio Cash Buyers, we believe buying houses is about more than real estate.
Every property has a story.
Every family deserves respect.
And every item that can help someone else deserves a second chance.
That is OCB Cares.
Where Items Go
We donate to Habitat for Humanity and a wide range of local programs supporting displaced residents, veterans, and families in need across Ohio — chosen case-by-case to match what each property leaves behind.
Have a property with items left behind?
We handle every situation with care.
